Pathways to Peace Uganda is a non-profit organization that supports the reintegration process for former child soldiers that have escaped the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). They work to reunite LRA returnees with their families by evaluating the holistic sustainability in every aspect of rehabilitation. From family tracing, defection messaging, home reunions and scholarships for schooling, Pathways to Peace builds intentional relationships to help their transition.
Tini ’s journey with Pathways to Peace began with a series of creative initiatives and events that raised funds and amplified awareness for the cause H.O.W.L and Pathways to Peace co-hosted an intimate multi-platform fundraiser wherehandmade innovations were auctioned, documentary works were screened and conversations were started.
Proceeds from the event paved a path for Tini to visit Uganda and incorporate art therapy principles into the program. Studies have revealed the importance of art’s impact on education, participation in society and the restoration of his or her sense of personal well-being through creative process. Tini engaged those on their way home with the universal language of art, resulting in many laughs and interactive experiences that explore feelings and foster a self -awareness that increases self-esteem.
